For our May meeting we visited Sparkle & Flair in Harleston to try our hand at Basic Jewellery Making. The shop owner – Gill – first of all explained the equipment we all had on the table in front of us, this included: beading boards, bead bugs, various pairs of pliars and boxes and boxes of amazing beads of all sorts of colours and designs. We then had a go at bending some wire with special pliars to make a loop for some earrings, not as easy as it looked.! Our next task was to choose from the huge array of beads and design a necklace & Earrings which we would make up and then take home. Once we’d chosen the beads and laid them out on the board we then had to thread them on wire and do lots of very fiddly work to finish them off and get the clasp attached. There were nine of us and just one of Gill and she certainly worked hard in coming round and helping everyone and she was very patient.
We were all very pleased with our results and when people admire them we can proudly say we made them ourselves.
Gill took some photos of our necklaces & earrings and the workshop which you should be able to see on www.sparkleandflair.co.uk
