SAM
We have SAM for two weeks from the 5th August. Mike Bentley has our grant in hand.
Playing Field Report
Mrs. Gladden-Fenn did report. All was in excellent order.
Wortwell parish council forwarded us a copy of the Rospa Play ground Management and Inspection roadshow. They wondered whether we, and Denton pc would like to join them in attending this roadshow. Cost is £350 plus VAT. Attendance is restricted to a maximum of 25 people. Discussions on this and it was felt that this is expensive and not needed. It was felt it would be better to ask Joy Playgrounds whether they would come out and visit us to show us the best way to do inspections.
Open Gardens
Mrs. Walton thanked Mrs. Gladden-Fenn very much for all her hard work she put in to organising this event. The day was very successful and the profit from this event was £805.00.
This covers the balance of the playing field equipment of £653.00. Discussions on purchasing another picnic table with the remaining balance of £152.00. All were in agreement with this. Mr. Denny will look in to this.
Playing Field Opening
The opening went well. It was a pleasant day and enjoyed by all. Mr. Denny thanked Mrs. Goose and Mrs. Wright for doing and donating the refreshments. It was agreed to write a letter of thanks to Martin Wilby for opening the playing field.
The school children’s contribution to the open garden was exceptional and many also attended the Church Fete. Mrs. Walton and Mrs. Beckett attended the school’s open morning. Letter of thanks to go to the school.
Film Night
The showing of ‘Argo’ was not as well attended as the previous showing. Takings from the night were £114.00. Ice cream sales were up. The next showing is on August 16th and will be ‘Song for Marion’. The next one after that will be 4th October. It was agreed to advertise this and ask people to vote on what they would like to see this time. It was decided not to show a children’s film.
Long Stratton Area Action Plan
We have a Preferred Options Response Form to complete asking for our views on this. All councillors have had a copy of this document and the questionnaire was gone through this evening and completed. Councillors felt strongly that a roundabout is needed at the Hempnall crossroads and do not agree to the 1,800 houses as felt this was too many resulting in heavy traffic causing congestion on the A140.
Notice Board
We have received a letter from Keith Donno, Church Warden of APCC regarding the replacement notice board at the village hall car park. He has quoted the sum of £480 (not subject

to VAT). He states that the church would not agree to pay for this in full and do not have the necessary funds. He would like clarification on responsibility for payment. The clerk has obtained a quote from Stebbings which is a lot more. This was discussed and felt that the parish council do not need another notice board at present. The parish council has no objection to the church erecting their own notice board; to be the same as the two existing ones and to be paid for and maintained by them. Clerk to inform Mr. Donno. All were in agreement.
Homersfield Picnic Site
The Clerk has made enquiries about the broken wooden footpath at the above site and when the site is going to be tidied. This is now the responsibility of the River Waveney Trust. This is a charity which has been set up and now lease the Otter Trust as their head quarters. The clerk has been in contact with Mr. Doggett of the River Waveney Trust who informs us that they are waiting for a date from Tim Page for the grass cutting and they will then help raking and other vegetation work. The work on replacing the boardwalk is on hold at the moment due to Environment Agency approving plans and a tree planting scheme along the bank (to reinforce the bank and provide shade from the river). He will let us know what is happening as and when he knows. Geoff also asked if he could come to our September meeting to give a talk on this. It was agreed to invite him.

County and District Council News –
Margaret Somerville introduced herself and her services and offered her help.
Dr. Gray reported:
SNC On Show – A Family Day out – is to be held on 14th July.
It was brought to our attention that South Farm has a lot of vehicles there and some farm buildings boarded up with padlocks on. We do not know if businesses are operating from here. This was discussed with Dr. Gray. Clerk to ask the Enforcement officer from SNC to visit. Dr. Gray advised us to ask for a comprehensive investigation and to maybe draw a sketch plan.

Homersfield picnic site – This area when we have lots of rain gets very flooded and the water comes to the edge of the road; anything you put in there is going to get ruined in the winter. Previous floods have ruined things before. We will bring this to Geoff’s attention at September meeting.
Mrs. Goose informed us that the Village Hall Committee have decided to open the Bar on Fridays. They will also be holding a Jumble sale in August.
To receive items for next agenda – None
Mrs. Walton thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 9.20pm.
Mrs. Walton, Chairman Alburgh Parish Council, 5th September, 2013.
