Matter arising
Mrs. Walton attended the joint parish meeting at Earsham where the Local Development was discussed. There will be a consultation in early September. We need to discuss what the village boundaries are. Alburgh is classed as a service village but is debatable if we do not want it.
Millennium Garden Pond
John Whitton is going to look at this tomorrow morning.
Telephone Box
Mr. Gedge has looked in to this on our behalf. He advised that Phyllis Wright can elect to have it removed or buy it for £1.00. She would like it removed and Mr. Gedge will organise this for us.
Safer Neighbourhood Team Report
Gill Gedge reported:
- A lady reported a man with a shot gun but on inspection it was found he had a fire arms licence so all was in order.
- Sgt. Howell has now left Harleston and moved to Long Stratton. Jill will ask PC Tim Tyler to come to a meeting to introduce himself.
Mr. Denny has had a break in and items stolen.
Two other break ins have also been reported.
Lead and heating oil is also susceptible to theft.

Alburgh with Denton Primary School – Letter advising us that they would like to present Year 6 leavers with a Bible again this year and asking us if we wish to donate to this. As in previous years the school will purchase the bibles and then charge us 50%. ( this being halved with Denton Parish Council). The total cost of the bibles will be in the region of £70.00. All were happy to do this.
E-mail from Andrew Davey. The County Council are asking for views on the Saddlebow incinerator otherwise known as ‘The Willows Power & Recycling Centre.’ It was agreed to wait until the consultation.
E-mail from Gemma Gray Pcso – There is an impending eviction of 200+ travellers from 51 unauthorised plots at Dales farm, in Basildon, Essex. The eviction notices have been issued and the affected families have until the end of August to leave. SNT will be liaising with local landowners and farmers to remind them to review their security and also revisit any previous unauthorised sites to ensure that these are also secure. She asks us to look at security on our playing fields, public spaces and car parks, etc.
Speed Watch
Mrs. Goose reported:
There have been 77 caught speeding to date.
Pat has received an invitation to a presentation and buffet lunch to be held at the Abbey Conference Centre, Farrow on 18th August for Community Speed watch volunteers. Places are offered on a first come first served basis so she hopes to get a ticket.

Playing Field
Kim Love did inspection. All was in order.
There are a lot of weeds around the equipment and bench. Mr. Denny will spray these.
There was a lot of litter left after the fete and a tea pot had also been emptied on the playing field which had to be cleared up but has left the grass dead. It was agreed that we should write them a gentle letter asking if next year they could make arrangements for the litter to be taken away. We have a weekly playing field rota and this falls upon one person to clear this away. Also reminding them that they do need to ask to book the village hall and ask permission to use the playing field. Clerk to write letter to the secretary, Sandra Donno, 6 Church road, Alburgh.

Mrs. Goose reported ‘Dog fouling’ on footpaths. Mrs. Walton will put an article in the magazine.
There has been a Lorry turning round at junction of School Road/Church Road which got stuck. The sign post is now loose in the ground. Clerk to e-mail Highways to ask them to repair this.
Mrs. Wright has telephoned Anglian Coaches about charges and was told that Alburgh and Denton residents can ride on the bus at 9.00am free if only going in to Harleston but if going further afield then have to pay. Clerk to write to Anglian Coaches to ask that they inform the drivers of this as passengers are getting on the bus and being asked to pay.
